Eat well. Feel steady.

Eat well. Feel steady.

Nutrition that fits the life you really live. Built around you.

At Harborview Nutrition, nutrition isn’t about restriction, perfection, or another one-size-fits-all plan. It’s about understanding your unique needs, getting to the root of what may be standing between you and your goals, and creating realistic strategies that support your health for the long term.

Through personalized, evidence-based nutrition counseling, I help you build a stronger foundation for better health—one sustainable change at a time.

Virtual nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy are available where permitted by applicable state law.

Nutrition that keeps you steady.

There is no universal formula for better health.

Your nutrition needs are shaped by your lifestyle, health history, goals, preferences, environment, activity, and the many factors that make you uniquely you. That’s why Harborview Nutrition takes a personalized approach.

Rather than simply telling you what to eat, we look deeper—at your current habits, nutrition patterns, lifestyle, movement, goals, and the bigger picture of your health—to develop practical strategies you can actually use in real life.

Because good nutrition shouldn’t make your life harder. It should make living well easier.

Discover How I Can Help

Less noise. More clarity.

Nutrition advice is everywhere.

And somehow, eating well has never felt more confusing. At Harborview Nutrition, we filter out the noise and focus on what the evidence—and your individual needs—actually support.

01

Evidence-Based

Recommendations are grounded in current nutrition science rather than wellness trends, fear-based messaging, or social media hype.

02

Personalized

Your strategy is built around your goals, lifestyle, preferences, health history, and real life—not someone else’s meal plan.

03

Root-Cause Focused

Instead of focusing only on symptoms or numbers, we look at the bigger picture and nutrition and lifestyle factors that may be contributing.

04

Food-First

Whenever appropriate, we begin with realistic ways to improve what you’re already eating before making nutrition unnecessarily complicated.

05

Sustainable

The best nutrition plan isn’t the most perfect one. It’s the one you can actually live with.

06

Whole-Person

Physical activity, sleep, stress, routines, environment, and behavior all influence health and may become part of your personalized strategy.

How we work together

1. Connect

We talk through your goals, health history, routines, and what you want support with.

2. Build Your Plan

Together, we create a personalized nutrition and lifestyle strategy that fits real life.

3. Put It Into Practice

You start with clear, manageable actions, with guidance and accountability along the way.

4. Review & Refine

We assess what’s working, troubleshoot barriers, and adjust your plan as your needs evolve.

Hi, I’m Maya.

Healthy eating should still feel like living.

Maya Ellison, MS, RDN, LD

Dietitian. Researcher. Former line cook. And a firm believer that healthy eating should still feel like living.

I created Harborview Nutrition because people deserve nutrition guidance that feels both credible and human. My work combines graduate nutrition training, six years of hospital practice, published research, and a lifelong love of cooking to help translate complicated nutrition science into strategies that make sense in everyday life.

As a registered and licensed dietitian and a Certified Health and Wellness Coach, I take an integrated approach to nutrition and wellness—looking beyond food alone to consider the many factors that influence how we feel and function.

Why Harborview Nutrition?

Your health deserves a strong foundation.

The name Harborview Nutrition comes from the window of my first office on Portland’s working waterfront. A harbor is where boats come in to refuel, make repairs, and wait out rough weather before heading back out—and that is how I think about nutrition. It is the steady place you return to, not a finish line you have to cross perfectly.

The Harborview Nutrition wordmark reflects those same ideas: calm, clarity, and steadiness, with one bright accent saved for the things that matter most.

Research & Credentials

Nutrition advice should be grounded in more than opinion.

Good nutrition guidance begins with good science. My background includes graduate-level nutrition education, extensive supervised clinical experience, professional certification, and published academic research.

Research

Better information helps you make better decisions.

Evidence-based nutrition, translated for real life.

You shouldn’t have to become a nutrition scientist just to figure out what to eat. The Harborview Nutrition Learn library breaks down nutrition research, trending wellness topics, food questions, supplements, recipes, family nutrition, metabolic health, and more—without the hype.
